To understand the story behind Hey Podcasters — an online community built to bring together podcasters of all backgrounds to learn, grow and promote their podcasts — one must first understand Margo Lovett.
Lovett’s journey has taken her across professional boundaries, going from the paper-bound corporate world of the 20th century to the digital space of internet radio and 21st century entrepreneurship. A late baby boomer, her reinvention became the inspiration for her podcast, Her Business, Her Voice, Her Conversation, and her book, Her Business, Her Voice, Her Reinvention. It also sparked the flame for her purpose-defining goal of teaching fellow women, baby boomers and anyone else how to share their stories through the power of podcasting. With that purpose, she also created Podcast Academy Online to help fellow boomers become successful podcasters.
Now, Lovett is inviting budding podcasters to share the stage in celebration of their own endeavors and their favorite storytelling medium with Hey Podcasters, an online community and a learning center for novice podcasters.
An online community welcoming all podcasters
Hey Podcasters was created by WomELLE, an organization dedicated to mentoring women who own and lead small businesses, providing personal mentorship, support, and business resources. Hey Podcasters is powered by the strength of networking and a shared passion for podcasting.
Lovett is proudly involved in WomELLE, and this September, she’s collaborating with WomELLE to host Hey Podcasters’ first annual celebration of podcasting. Leading up to that celebration, she is facilitating weekly live sessions to connect the group’s members and encourage story sharing and collaboration. Through these meetups, members of Hey Podcasters can spark inspiration through the wisdom of more experienced speakers, meet new friends and potential podcast partners, and enjoy a social celebration of the medium that they love.
Learn. Build. Grow your podcast.
This first round of weekly live sessions and the final celebration in September are a result of Lovett’s leadership in the Podcast Squad from her other venture, PodcastAcademyOnline.com. This is an online learning academy for podcasters to learn the tools of the trade, grow their own communities and sharpen their saws.
Hey Podcasters is working to become much more than a simple club by taking tips from skill-sharing online communities like Lovett’s Podcast Academy Online. Moving forward, up-and-coming podcasters will be able to access the keys to success through how-to videos created by other podcasters and join a public outlet where they can promote their shows and see their fanbase experience compound growth.
Lovett is kicking things off for the community by utilizing her foothold in the educational space and her own community of eager-to-learn podcasters. WomELLE will help promote these new podcasters with professional magazine articles that provide explosive print and digital exposure, while Lovett will publish interviews with some podcasters throughout the month of September.
Hey Podcasters currently hosts more than 50 podcasters and shows, covering over 70 topics and including 15 live streams. This year’s celebration schedule starts on September 1, with weekly group live streams every Wednesday in September. This calendar culminates with a virtual cocktail party on September 30, celebrating the world of podcasting.
